St Andrew's Mission Statement

At St Andrew's we seek to live as a church by the four statements which form our Mission Statement. Our Mission Statement encourages to be an outward looking church concerned to share what we know and have experienced of the love of God with others.
The Bible tells us that "We know and rely on the love of God. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God." (1 John 4: 16). We believe that it is possible to know this God of love, through faith in His Son, Jesus. As we know Him we find that we want other to know Him and the love that He offers to all.
When Jesus went back to heaven to be with His Father, He sent His followers into all the world to share the Good News of God's love and forgiveness to everyone. As followers of Jesus it is our responsibility to continue that task. It is a task we do with joy because we have come to know how wonderful Jesus is and want other to share in that joy.
Our aim as a church is to help each other become better followers of Jesus by teaching and encouraging each other, and allowing people to use their gifts in the mission of the church.
The church leadership is not just about the vicar. If St Andrew's is to grow and thrive then others are needed to share the leading of the church, some in small groups, some heading up specific areas of work. We aim to try and see those with potential for leadership and teach and encourage them to step out and give it a go. This involves people of all ages and skills. Have a look at our 'Leaders page' to see some of those in leadership at St Andrew's.
